Step out of your comfort zone and discover a whole new world with a Rangitikei River canoe adventure. We have a range of guided river tours, so whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the water or a newcomer we have exactly what you’re looking for. Check out what we have to offer on this beautiful river today.

Experience the Best of What New Zealand Has to Offer

If you want a river with plenty of small rapids, steep gorges, clear water, quiet campsites and plenty of fun then this is the trip! Clients rate this river over most others and is a great option if you want a bit more excitement on the water or have already experienced the Whanganui River tour.

The Rangitikei river carves its way through the steep deep papa gorges of the Kaimanawa and Ruahine ranges on its journey to the Tasman Sea. The rapids are grade one and two and the scenery has to be seen to be believed.

Paddle through stunning landscapes and witness limestone cliffs, gorges and native bushland. Enjoy serene pools, exciting rapids and vistas around every bend and don’t worry about missing a thing thanks to our tour guides.

There is clear water for trout fishing and swimming, grassy campsites on the river's edge, high papa bluffs, stands of native bush, short walks to waterfalls and the amazing Rangitikei Boulders.

We can also walk to the remains of the Mangaweka power scheme, which was built in 1911 and made Mangaweka one of the first towns on the main trunk line to have its own power.

Our four day adventure starts at the end of the Rangitikei river rafting section at River Valley. Other guided tours start progressively further down the river and each section has its own stunning scenery and fun-filled rapids.

If you've just got a day to spare, you can still join us on a one day trip. For those with more time, unwind with friends and enjoy great food and campsites on an overnight camp on our two, three, or four day professionally guided Rangitikei River tour right in the centre of New Zealand's North Island.

If you feel this may be a little too far out of your comfort zone for now, consider starting by canoeing the Whanganui River with us over 3, 4 or 5 days to help build up your canoeing skills and confidence on the water.
